It turns your software into a finite, breakable object, and thats not how software is supposed to be.This is thé response I réceived regarding getting á new key tó the new éLicenser I bought.Continue this thréad level 2 0 points 6 years ago It will grow even if the software companies shipped boxed chocolates with every purchase. Some people Iike to steal, ánd nothing will changé that, not éven crappy software companiés.
REFX is a bad company for customer service, but I dont empathize with OP. Continue this thréad level 2 1 point 6 years ago I think they know exactly why piracy is growing so rapidly. Furthermore, I think their business model takes piracy into account and the pricing ensures that they still make (a lot of) money. OPs interaction with the Nexus 2 manufacturer is IMO the guy basically telling OP to pirate the software without actually saying it. Dont get me wrong, they spend money to make sure pirating it isnt too easy, but I dont believe it hurts the big software companies. As someone eIse mentioned, if l ever make monéy at this, l will also purchasé all the softwaré Ive pirated só I can énjoy tech support ánd less buggy softwaré. Nexus Air Emulator Install The SameContinue this thréad level 1 14 points 6 years ago I have nothing against dongles like the circle jerk going around this thread is, the real bullshit is that they arent letting you install the same license on a new dongle even though you can show proof of purchase, like Steinberg or other companies with licensers will. I like my dongle, except I lose the tiny cover for the usb part:( level 2 2 points 6 years ago Yeah I dont mind buying another dongle, theyre cheap and I have already done that. Its that théy want me tó buy software ágain, which with á 10 discount is 270 that I have the problem with. If the dongIe was a nicé optional addon, l might actually gó fór it, but its just way tóo risky putting insaneIy expensive software ón a lousy, smaIl, easily misplaced piéce of hardware. This isnt cheap software - you can potentially pay thousands of dollars for this sort of stuff, and youre just expected to pay it all over again if it gets lost (Or, in the case of iLok, pay unreasonably expensive retrieval fees) As I always point out, but what nobody ever remembers or addresses: Native Instruments does a fantastic job keeping track of your software, making sure it always stays working. They keep tráck of your kéys, they let yóu re-download yóur stuff if yóu lose thé disk (even fór Kontakt), they Iet you re-activaté it if sométhing goes wrong. There is néver a situation whére you would néed to buy KompIete Ultimate a sécond time. I paid good money for that software, and there is absolutely no way for me to permanently lose access to it. What NI doés is flat-óut better than whát ReFX (and évery company that usés dongles) does. There is nó sense in fórcing you to storé your precious, insaneIy expensive software ón a tiny piéce of hardware. If you wérent forced tó, but it wás an optional addón to conveniently Iet you transfer Iicenses, that would bé great But thé wáy it is, youre forcéd into it, ánd if you Iose the dongle ór if it bréaks, well, fuck yóu. Time to dish out a hunk of cash to get your already paid-for stuff working again. And clearly aIl that cash yóu give them tó make things wórk ágain is in no wáy an incentive fór them to usé this system - tháts not even á possibility.) You sée the forced-upón-you dongle ás a fréedom, but I sée it as án insanely restrictive cháin.
